Hammer grade change for a car body shredding line

Hammer grade change for a car body shredding line

Hammer grade and profile reviewed for a line running mixed car body and light iron feed.

Background: the operator reported uneven hammer wear and frequent change-out stops while shredding mixed car body and light iron feed. Solution: worn hammers and the feed mix were reviewed together. A martensitic cast steel grade with an adjusted heat treatment route was proposed, and the hammer profile was confirmed against the rotor specification. Scope: shredder hammer, hammer pin and initial article inspection. Outcome: the trial batch was supplied with full inspection records, and wear behaviour was reviewed with the maintenance team after the initial campaign.
